Based on what Ken Choi said, we can supose that quest will be very important part of Aion. There will be as many as it's posible, so that way only by doing them you can get new level. Is it good? I think so. In every RPG game no matter how interesting the fighting is, after long hours of grinding we get bored. But a good storyline can keep everyone playing. It's good that Aion's developers didn't forget what RPG is about, they let the player enter a world of adventures, as opposed to other games where you're just waling around with a half-naked elf killing hordes of orcs/deamons only to fight a big, evil boss at the end. Quests are to provide you with some objectives between levels. They say that if we look back we won't think about hours of exping, but about interesting story which our character has gone through.
We can split quests into 2 groups: campaing and side-quests. Side quests are to be about everyday life in world of Aion and contain only short part of the whole story, but many of them will be conneted with other side quests, so that the build a story togather. Campaing quests are to offer a really big part of the entire story about war of 3 races and development of our character.
Pre-view shows us that in most of the quest we will have to stand on the one of the sides, but there's no perfect one and every choice will bring some consequences with it.

If devs really aproached storyline as the one of most important elements, we'll get something real good. So let's wait till we get some more details and of course the release of Aion: The Tower of Eternity

The risky thing about quests is:

Most MMORPGs make quests just long grinding sessions = PLAYERS HATE IT!!!!!
Quests must be interesting, not just abuot grinding..

Heres some ideas:

Quests should include these aspects:

Hunting: Players [solo or party] have to hunt this certain monster which frees someone or something,
and then you have to return it to the owner or the concerning NPC [Just some ideas ^^]
Foraging/Collecting: An NPC asked for some things to be collect in order to access some
items/skills the NPC has to offer, keeps the players going.
Exploring Places: Caves etc, and they have to find certain things by killing monsters,
but dont' turn it into a grinding session, keep it short and sweet.

Quests must = big rewards, depending on the quest size, I've seen so manny MMORPGs
with HUGE quests and really crappy rewards which really annoy the players alot.

I notice one of the few things that made diablo and some of many games a big hit they expanded there horizon on quests by add such of the following:

-Cinematics
-Character Voices
-And Ingame Story Control

These key points really brought the game alive and made many players staying hours and hours just waiting and looking forward to see whats going to happen next.

I guess whit those cinematics quest will feel alot more real and thats a very good thing. Besides don't forget dat we are going to forge the history of Aion. We all are there to explore the land and every single action of everybody is always important.

Yeah thats a very good idea. I really like that but you should complete it as a guild then so its not a personal quest you complete with help from the guild. If you understand what I'm saying hehe but very awsome idea :)

Yea it's realy good idea. Joymax (silkroad) told something like Guild Quest... Ehh but it's only words... I'll hope see guild quest on Aion...

Also party guests r good... at least less boring.
Clear dungeons quests (solo or in party) with reword in gold, exp and a nice item from time 2 time.
Also special everyday events (copy from an other game I play ... 1h mobs summon after ur team won agains the other teams, mobs that will give more exp then usual - see my movie link in my siggy)

And the most important think that keeps players interest in game r the events (drop events, GM buffs, questions, even forum events, and lot more)

i do agree on the group quests. Have fun with your friends, go do some quests get some good items/xp/gold for your hard work and team work.
Solo quests could be used for gaining new skills or like showing that you deserve a new level.
Now i am concerned about getting a group, you know haters , nagging people , and all sorts that just ruin the whole experience just so they can get those items/gold/xp . It's like a race to some, it's a game , have fun. I really hated that in other games.

Hmm, I also think there should be alot of group quests/dungouns. Also 1 man dungouns
having totaly tired out World of Warcraft with 7 friends, and 3 familairs.
I have seen that there are alot of different gamer-characters out there..talking about the real life ones  :D
ill try to sum it up.
  • you had me and 2 other friends, wich seem to be able to do everything well to exeptional.
    not to brag but, it's just like that. quests,pvp,dungouns, using skills paying attention to whats happening.
  • You had the lesser version of that. the ones that learn fast, and pick up stuff even faster.
  • Then you have the ppl that make you scream out loud, because they keep on hammering on
    there own mistake but overal they level up ok.
  • and last but not least, the noobs..*sigh*, it seems that following a path up north, or just searching up
    the coordinates on a given-to-them site is to hard. so they run instances all day long. and level to the cap
    in that way.
Now i heard that you can actually level up by pvping. that would be great!

So for them alot of dungoun options would be great. also leveling by pvp is something i can get used to :P

Group quests/dungouns ect are also very nice to meet people that can make themselves usefull
by providing information they know. help you out. become online chatbuddy's in general.
Thats the one thing i love most about mmorpg's and that is the community.

A game that does not provide a low level dungoun ior group quests are mostly the games that
i hate to play And tend to be just a humoungous grind without a ending point at sight. (lvl999 gg >.>'')
first of all youre a complete noob ( with wicked skill ofcourse ;D) but now you know no one,
whenever you talk to someone they commenly try to ignore you,ect.

just sucks in short  :D

Yeah, I think quests are very exciting and interesting too.Especially ones where u enter a speical place for the quest and u can explore freely,fight bosses and have lots of fun! Those quests really enhances the game's rating. :D

Item drops should be only able to be pickedup by the person who killed the monster or party members who have killed the monster. This avoids drop stealers.
